Independent Film Distribution: Translating The Way Out into Seven Languages

Mom from The Way Out - English Subtitles

Independent filmmaking is about more than just creating a compelling story—it’s about finding ways to connect that story with audiences around the world. For The Way Out, translation has been a critical step in preparing for our independent film distribution, allowing us to reach new viewers across cultural and linguistic barriers.

A special shoutout goes to Emmy, who portrayed Mom in the film, for helping us craft the Tagalog translation! Her involvement ensured that the translation captured the nuances of the Filipino culture and language so essential to the story.

For the remaining six languages, we relied on Amazon Translate, a tool that helped us efficiently translate captions into widely spoken languages. This process has been about more than technical accuracy—it’s been about maintaining the heart and authenticity of the film’s narrative for every viewer, no matter where they’re from.
